Recreational Leagues
- The goal of the recreational leagues is to provide a safe and fun environment for the student athletes at all ages. The right touch of skill development, team work, and competition makes the recreational leagues the perfect choice no mater the situation.
- Athletes range from 5 to 17 years of age with varying degrees of skills and experience.
- The coaches volunteer their time to teach the student athlete the game of flag football. The typical recreational coach has their child on the team, so we know they have the best interest of the team.
- The referees are paid for their services and are instructed to offer “teachable” moments during games.
- Weekly 1 hour practice.
- Weekly game.
- Players are guaranteed to play a minimum 50% of the game.
- Players receive team uniform which includes an NFL Flag jersey and CA shorts.
- 8 guaranteed games (7 regular season, at least one playoff game) but can play up to 10 depending on playoff success.
- Seasons include fall, winter, and spring.
- Player statistics are not recorded, but team results are recorded (season record and points scored)
Below is a breakdown of our flag football age groups and what you can expect your child to learn in each age group as well as a practice and game schedule.
As you read the details of each age group, a progressive individual and team skills are developed with age. Class Athletes who begin their youth flag football careers early and consistently will have a definite advantage over players who get a late start or inconsistent participation. Players also will develop a sense of how important, powerful, and fun the team concept can be. Parents and coaches will have fun watching their child grow and develop into a skilled and confident person while doing what kids do best, have fun!

U6 age group
- Players between the ages 5 and 6.
- Designed to introduce little flag football stars to the game.
- We want to introduce the fundamentals of running, catching, and throwing the football.
- Our format provides the players to get a lot of touches on the ball.
- Practice on Saturday morning for 30 minutes, immediately followed by a game against another team.
- 5 vs 5 with coaches playing “all-time” quarterback so athletes have better hand-offs and passes thrown to them.
- No referee for this age group; Coaches from both teams supervise the play on the field.
- We do not keep score at this age group.
- Safety is very important to us, so coaches will blow the whistle and re-set the ball if a child is in danger of getting hurt.
U8 age group
- Players between the ages of 7 and 8.
- We will continue to teach fundamentals that are introduced in the U6 age group.
- The quarterback position is introduced at this age group.
- Practice is one night of the week for 1 hour led by a head coach.
- Games consist of two 20-minute halves with running clock.
- 5 vs 5 with coaches playing “all-time” quarterback the first half and turn it over to the players in the second half.
- Coaches are allowed on the field at this age group.
- One paid official who referees fair play and offer teachable moments to players during the game.
- At this age group we become a little more organized and competitive by keeping score.
- We also introduce standings and a playoff system which identifies a first-place winner.
- All scores and standings are recorded which determine playoff matches.
U10 age group
- Players between the ages of 9 and 10.
- We will continue to teach fundamentals that are introduced in the U8 age group.
- Practice is one night of the week for 1 hour led by a head coach.
- Games consist of two 20-minute halves with running clock.
- 5 vs 5 with athletes playing quarterback the entire game.
- Coaches are allowed on the field at this age group.
- One paid official who referees fair play.
- All scores and standings are recorded which determine playoff matches.
U12 age group
- Players between the ages of 10 and 12.
- We will continue to teach fundamentals that are introduced in the U10 age group.
- Practice is one night of the week for 1 hour led by a head coach.
- Games consist of two 20-minute halves with running clock.
- 5 vs 5
- Coaches are allowed on the field at this age group.
- One paid official who referees fair play.
- All scores and standings are recorded which determine playoff matches.
U14 age group
- Players between the ages of 13 and 14.
- We will continue to teach fundamentals that are introduced in the U12 age group.
- The players are much faster and skilled so the coach is not on the field of play.
- Practice is one night of the week for 1 hour led by a head coach.
- Games consist of two 20-minute halves with running clock.
- 5 vs 5
- Two paid officials who referee fair play.
- All scores and standings are recorded which determine playoff matches.
U17 age group
- Players between the ages of 15 and 17.
- We will continue to teach fundamentals that are introduced in the U14 age group.
- The players are much faster and skilled so the coach is not on the field of play.
- Practice is one night of the week for 1 hour led by a head coach.
- Games consist of two 20-minute halves with running clock.
- 5 vs 5
- Two paid officials who referee fair play.
